Perpetuity

2026 · Godot · C++ · with Joyus

Perpetuity is a jigsaw puzzle game for Android and iOS where the picture keeps moving. Each puzzle is an abstract animated painting with its own music. You tap two pieces to swap them until the painting is back together. There is no timer, no score and no way to lose.

There is a new puzzle every day and a new album every Wednesday, with 148 levels across nine packs so far. Boards run from a dozen pieces to a hundred. Because the picture moves while you solve it, you match the motion as well as the colour. The paintings and music come from a procedural engine. I choose them, name them and arrange them into albums in my own pack-making tool, and the game is built in Godot with a C++ extension for the audio.

It is in open testing on Google Play and TestFlight. The same engine also grew into Field Studio, the desktop tool I now use to make audiovisual pieces.
