September 2022
Hello!
Look at me, bringing another update. This thing actually might work. Not because it is easier to do or anything, but honestly more because this is probably the only way I have found till now to do updates that feels interesting to me. So September was a slightly on the slower side for me. I did not realize how much I was taking on and because of that feelings of lethargy and lack of inspiration had started creeping in. Even though i was doing work, I really don't think I was able to bring the best parts of my thinking.
Thankfully, Charu convinced me that I should just take a week off, not even do any thinking work in that duration, and that really helped. I have generally felt myself go through burnout cycles fairly frequently and this time, due to her pointing it out, I feel like I caught it pretty early on. So, even though September wasn't productive, it was pretty nourishing.
Now, on to what fun stuff happened, ofcourse the most fun has been recording and editing my podcast “Thinking on Thinking” with Kahran. This month both conversations were about slightly meta things, which is always my favourite place to go to. As we edit and listen back to ourselves, we are also learning how to move our conversations into more interesting directions, which has also been extra rewarding, and now that we are hitting our stride more and more (we just released episode 7 this week) we hopefully can experiment with other aspects of the podcast too. We didn’t end up updating our website, but we definitely made progress on that front. A lot of these things tend to feel very raw until almost the last moment. Its a bit like cooking, food feels weird until its cooked and then its perfect.
Charu and I made more progress on our game, and I think we have an excellent game idea, we just need to figure out art style, tone, gameplay specifics, game feel and a few other things. While that may seem like its a lot, surprisingly it is a little bit like spreading out a jigsaw puzzle and separating out all the pieces by color and type. Once you have the pieces separated, you can start putting them together much faster.
Other than these things, I have started brain storming on a few different things that I could potentially do by the end of the year, but all of them are secret! Unfortunately cant share any of them yet.
Thanks for reading through to the end and one more exciting thing that I wanted to share is the intro sequence to the new film Ponniyin Selvan 1 that my brother Devanshu and my awesomely multi talented friend Varun worked on. Hope you enjoy the intro!
Have a great October!
